Jameson 'Black Barrel'⁣⁣

Bottled at 40% and ⁣⁣Triple Distilled.⁣⁣

Cask Type:⁣ American Oak, Ex-Sherry and Double charred Bourbon Casks.⁣

This Irish Blended Whiskey contains a high proportion of Irish pot still and small-batch grain whiskey.⁣⁣

My tasting notes 📝⁣⁣

Nose. Vanilla with Caramel, Grass/Straw and Nuts.⁣⁣

Palate. Spicy Ginger, Light Smoke, Char and Fruit.⁣⁣

Finish. Medium with Butterscotch and Black Pepper.⁣⁣

An initial explosion of vanilla combines well with a sweet confectioner's caramel smell. Delicate cut grass and straw/hay-like flavours are also included along with a nutty and slightly milky almond aroma.⁣⁣⁣

The palate has quite a spicy mouthfeel that provides spices such as cinnamon and ginger for heat. Next, there's a very slight waft of light smoke that brings some charred or burnt flavour. Ultimately, notes of baked apple work well and satisfy on the palate.⁣⁣

The medium finish brings a buttery, burnt sugar flavour to the whiskey, which is most enjoyable. There's also some peppery spice coming through from cracked black pepper which in turn completed the tasting.⁣⁣

My opinion 🗣 - An affordable and easy sipping Irish whiskey that's got a lot more character and depth than the Original Jameson. Definitely one worth checking out!
