My tasting notes 📝
Nose. Malt, Coal, Sherry and Pineapple.
Palate. Nuts, Honey, Tobacco and Figs.
Finish. Plum, Ginger, Apricot and Rum & Raisin Ice Cream.
An intriguing savoury scented sweet malt emerged first, followed by a smoky, charred coal-like aroma. Then an aromatic sherry sweetness added some cask-influenced fragrance. The addition of pineapple notes gave the Highland distilled whisky a tropical scent.
On the palate, hazelnuts and pecans imparted a distinctly nutty flavour that was well complemented by a drizzle of honey. Tobacco added body and typical sherry flavours, while figs added a welcomed fruitiness.
A succulent flavour was introduced by soft and juicy plums, while a pungent ginger generated heat and spice. The whisky was then infused with dried apricots to add a vibrant fruitiness. Finally, rum-soaked raisins were combined with creamy vanilla ice cream to create layers of flavour.
My opinion 🗣"For me Wolfburn are consistently producing high-quality expressions and this particular whisky is a great example of that. So for a complex and well-balanced whisky with an intriguing flavour profile. Please check this one out."
