Lochlea Distillery launch Limited Edition sherry matured whisky
The team at Lochlea Distillery are delighted to reveal their third seasonal limited release, Lochlea ‘Fallow Edition’ (First Crop). Launching on the 3rd November 2022, it is the third expression in an annual limited edition series, following on from Lochlea ‘Sowing Edition’ (First Crop) which launched in March 2022, and Lochlea ‘Harvest Edition’ (First Crop) which launched in September 2022.
Lochlea ‘Fallow Edition’ is inspired by autumn on the farm. After growing barley here at Lochlea for the past six months it is time for the fields to be left fallow and rest after a busy harvest. The bottle’s rich purple label reflects the crisp purple leaves that cover the ground as temperatures begin to fall.
It is the first expression from Lochlea to be matured exclusively in 100% ex-Oloroso Sherry casks, giving the spirit warming flavours of freshly baked banana bread, malt biscuits and dark, dried fruits.
John Campbell, Lochlea Production Director and Master Blender, said:
“When we were first planning for our core single malt, Lochlea ‘Our Barley,’ we found some wonderful Sherry butts that deserved to be showcased together and decided to use these to create Lochlea ‘Fallow Edition’.”
“Lochlea ‘Fallow Edition’ is 100% matured in Oloroso Sherry butts; bringing a rich, deep colour and a dry, fruity palate that is perfect for the season of autumn on the farm.”
With demand far greater than available stock, Lochlea ‘Fallow Edition’ (First Crop) is on allocation to key UK retail and wholesale partners, and across 15 export markets. There are only 9,000 bottles globally. Sitting at 46% ABV, Lochlea ‘Fallow Edition’ (First Crop) will retail for £50 and, as with all Lochlea whiskies, is non-chill filtered with no artificial colouring.
