Tamdhu release single cask whisky to mark 125th anniversary
Tamdhu Single Malt Scotch Whisky has released a limited-edition Single Cask expression to mark the brand's 125th anniversary - specially selected by the Tamdhu ‘Dedication Society’.
Following a comprehensive tasting with input from Dedication Society Members and Tamdhu's Distillery Manager, Sandy McIntyre, Single Cask No: 5982 was chosen - a first fill European Oak Sherry Butt with an outturn of 640 bottles.
Distilled on the 21st November 2003, the Dedication Society Single Cask has notes of warm vanilla on the nose, accompanied with stewed apples, treacle glaze, liquorice and waves of sherry.
On the palate, expect a full and balanced mouthful of spiced fruit loaf, plum jam, and perfectly balanced dark chocolate. The whisky delivers a warm and lingering finish with dried fruits and soft spice and - of course - unmistakable sherry notes.
Sandy McIntyre, Tamdhu Distillery Manager, said: “For our 125th anniversary, it was imperative that we consulted our most devout fans to bottle a single cask that celebrates Tamdhu’s rich history, and toasts to its exciting future.
“The result, after much deliberation, is this Dedication Society bottling. As a whisky, it embodies all that is good about our distillation style and our dedication to full sherry maturation.”
Tamdhu Dedication Society Single Cask 2003 (70cl, 55.4% ABV, RRP £349) is only available to buy from the Tamdhu store. Only 640 bottles will be available for purchase.
TASTING NOTES
